If you weren’t already aware, Deadlock is available to play if you’re one of the lucky players to receive a direct invite from Valve or a friend with access to the game. A full release is expected later this year, but the official Deadlock release date hasn’t been given a specific date.
When is Valve’s Deadlock release date?
Deadlock is currently available on Steam via Early Access, but the official and full release estimates predict a release window of Q3/Q4 2025. This is based on what we’ve experienced from playing the game, which has so far demonstrated a solid hero shooter meets lane-pusher with a diverse range of Deadlock characters, items, and mechanics.
The playtest only launched with a single arena map, and it is not clear if additional Deadlock maps will be present at the time of a full release. Given Valve’s history with Team Fortress 2, we certainly believe that there will be extra maps and layouts to fit a variety of gamemodes.
Is Deadlock available on Steam?
Yes and no. Deadlock does have a dedicated Steam page, but you will not be able to sign up to the playtest without a direct invite from Valve or from a friend who already has a Deadlock code.
Fortunately, gaining access to Deadlock is relatively simple thanks to the amazing community over on Reddit. If you check out the Deadlock megathread for invites, you’ll find a number of players willing to add you as a friend on Steam and send you an invite. Just be sure you read the forum rules first.
Deadlock release date delay
No known Deadlock delay has been announced or even hinted at, leading us to believe that a late 2024 release window will be when Deadlock becomes available to everyone.
Should a delay or official release date announcement appear, you can be sure to catch the details on our official Deadlock Twitter page.
